SyncWizard enables file conversion, while an object is copied from or to the PDA.

Quick demo:

Find a text file on your desktop PC (extension txt) and drag and drop it in to the SyncWizard windows. If you have a doc reader you can find and read this file on the PDA.

Double-click on MyTextDocument and you will be able to edit it on your desktop.

Palm files, documents, programs are different to the ones on a PC. Normally they can not be used by a PC application directly.

To be able to work with them on a Desktop, they have to be converted. This will be done conventionally during HotSync. But this can be quite annoying, because during each sync all data will be converted. This can take a long time.

With SyncWizard you can access exactly the document you want to work with. If you double-click on it, SyncWizard loads the Palm file to the Desktop and will ask its modules for handling/converting it. If there is a module, it will produce a compatible form for a desktop program.

After you saved your document in the desktop programm, SyncWizard asks you, whether to send it back to the handheld. If you agree, the module will be ask to convert the new data back to a Palm specific form. Finally SyncWizard copies it back to the handheld.

Example module:

SyncWizard comes currently with one module. It handles text files, which can be used with a texteditor (for example: notepad). They will be converted to Palm Doc files, which can be viewed and edited with many Palm applications like doc viewer and text processors.

Developer support:

envi.con is planning to provide more modules to SyncWizard in futures. But also offers other software developers support for making modules for their software.
